Reisen – Inmitten dieser faszinierenden Route liegt die historische Kleinstadt Goumenissa, die ehemalige Hauptstadt der Provinz Paionia. Bekannt für ihre Weinproduktion, ist sie Heimat der renommierten Weinanbauzone „OPAP Goumenissa“ – eine Ursprungsbezeichnung höherer Qualität, die für ihre charaktervollen Weine geschätzt wird. Die Region liegt am Fuße des Paikos-Gebirges, etwa 70 Kilometer von Thessaloniki entfernt, und bietet eine atemberaubende Kulisse für Reisende, die mehr als nur Wein erleben möchten.
Die Weinstraße ist nicht nur ein Paradies für Weinliebhaber, sondern auch ein kultureller Schatz. Von Goumenissa aus können Besucher die Weinberge der Region erkunden und in den Winzereien die ausgezeichneten Weine probieren, die hier produziert werden. Die Rebsorte „Xinomavro“ ist besonders charakteristisch für die Region und bildet die Basis vieler exquisiter Weine.
Auf dem Weg nach Osten gelangen Besucher zur antiken Stadt Pella, der Geburtsstadt von Alexander dem Großen. Die archäologische Stätte beeindruckt mit ihren außergewöhnlichen Mosaikfußböden, die das künstlerische und kulturelle Erbe der Antike widerspiegeln. Das zugehörige Museum bringt Besuchern die Geschichte dieser bedeutenden Stadt näher.
Wer weiter westlich reiste, entdeckte die malerischen Dörfer im Bezirk Pella, darunter Aridaia, sowie die idyllischen Bergdörfer am Skizentrum des Kaimaktsalan. Diese Dörfer bieten authentische griechische Gastfreundschaft in gemütlichen Gästehäusern, traditionellen Restaurants und kleinen Handwerksbetrieben, die lokale Produkte herstellen. Darüber hinaus laden zahlreiche Unternehmen zu alternativen Freizeitaktivitäten inmitten der Natur ein. Ein besonderes Erlebnis bietet sich den Besuchern am 1. Februar, wenn in Goumenissa das Fest des Heiligen Tryphon gefeiert wird. Als Schutzpatron des Weinbaus steht er im Mittelpunkt einer traditionellen Feier, bei der der Wein mit Führungen und Festlichkeiten geehrt wird.
Die Weinstraße bietet außerdem kulturelle Schätze in Form von Museen. Das Archäologische Museum in Kilkis, das Volkskundemuseum und das Kriegsmuseum sind wahre Schatzkammern der lokalen Geschichte. The Pella–Goumenissa Wine Route is one of the hidden gems of Northern Greece, connecting the regions of Kilkis and Pella. Along this route stretch picturesque vineyards, historic towns, and charming villages that offer a unique blend of history, culture, and nature. It invites wine lovers and culture enthusiasts alike to an unforgettable experience.
At the heart of this fascinating route lies the historic small town of Goumenissa, the former capital of the Paionia province. Known for its wine production, it is home to the renowned wine-growing zone “OPAP Goumenissa” – a designation of higher quality, appreciated for its characterful wines. The region lies at the foot of Mount Paikos, about 70 kilometers from Thessaloniki, offering a breathtaking backdrop for travelers who seek more than just wine.
The wine route is not only a paradise for wine lovers but also a cultural treasure. From Goumenissa, visitors can explore the vineyards of the region and taste the excellent wines produced here in the wineries. The grape variety “Xinomavro” is particularly characteristic of the region and forms the basis of many exquisite wines.
Heading east, visitors reach the ancient city of Pella, the birthplace of Alexander the Great. In addition, numerous businesses invite visitors to enjoy alternative outdoor activities in nature. The traditional mountain settlement of Kastaneri on Mount Paikos is another highlight of the route, where visitors can enjoy the tranquility of nature and the untouched landscape.
Beyond wine and nature, the wine route also has a deeply spiritual dimension. The Monastery of Panagia Goumenissa, as well as the monasteries Osios Nikodimos in Pentalofos and Agios Rafail in Griva, are important spiritual sites deeply rooted in the region’s history and culture. A special experience awaits visitors on February 1st, when Goumenissa celebrates the Feast of Saint Tryphon. As the patron saint of viticulture, he is honored during traditional festivities that celebrate wine with tours and events.
The wine route also offers cultural treasures in the form of museums. The Archaeological Museum in Kilkis, the Folklore Museum, and the War Museum are true treasure troves of local history. In Goumenissa itself, another folklore museum provides deep insights into the traditions and everyday life of the region.

Ο Οινοτουριστικός Δρόμος Πέλλας–Γουμένισσας αποτελεί ένα από τα κρυμμένα διαμάντια της Βόρειας Ελλάδας και συνδέει τους νομούς Κιλκίς και Πέλλας. Κατά μήκος αυτής της διαδρομής απλώνονται γραφικοί αμπελώνες, ιστορικές πόλεις και γοητευτικά χωριά, προσφέροντας έναν μοναδικό συνδυασμό ιστορίας, πολιτισμού και φύσης. Προσκαλεί τόσο τους λάτρεις του κρασιού όσο και τους φίλους της παράδοσης σε μια αξέχαστη εμπειρία.
Στο κέντρο αυτής της συναρπαστικής διαδρομής βρίσκεται η ιστορική κωμόπολη της Γουμένισσας, η πρώην πρωτεύουσα της επαρχίας Παιονίας. Γνωστή για την παραγωγή κρασιού, φιλοξενεί τη φημισμένη ζώνη οίνου «ΟΠΑΠ Γουμένισσα» – μια ονομασία ανώτερης ποιότητας, ιδιαίτερα εκτιμημένη για τους κρασιούς με χαρακτήρα. Η περιοχή βρίσκεται στους πρόποδες του όρους Πάικου, περίπου 70 χιλιόμετρα από τη Θεσσαλονίκη, προσφέροντας ένα εντυπωσιακό σκηνικό για ταξιδιώτες που αναζητούν κάτι περισσότερο από κρασί.
Ο οινικός δρόμος δεν είναι μόνο παράδεισος για τους οινόφιλους αλλά και πολιτιστικός θησαυρός. Από τη Γουμένισσα, οι επισκέπτες μπορούν να εξερευνήσουν τους αμπελώνες της περιοχής και να δοκιμάσουν τα εξαιρετικά κρασιά που παράγονται στα τοπικά οινοποιεία. Η ποικιλία «Ξινόμαυρο» είναι ιδιαίτερα χαρακτηριστική για την περιοχή και αποτελεί τη βάση πολλών εκλεκτών κρασιών.
Κατευθυνόμενοι ανατολικά, οι επισκέπτες φτάνουν στην αρχαία πόλη της Πέλλας, τη γενέτειρα του Μεγάλου Αλεξάνδρου. Ο αρχαιολογικός χώρος εντυπωσιάζει με τα μοναδικά ψηφιδωτά δάπεδα, που αντικατοπτρίζουν την καλλιτεχνική και πολιτιστική κληρονομιά της αρχαιότητας. Το αντίστοιχο μουσείο φέρνει τους επισκέπτες πιο κοντά στην ιστορία αυτής της σημαντικής πόλης.
Όσοι ταξιδέψουν δυτικά ανακαλύπτουν τα γραφικά χωριά του νομού Πέλλας, όπως την Αριδαία, καθώς και τα ειδυλλιακά ορεινά χωριά κοντά στο χιονοδρομικό κέντρο του Καϊμακτσαλάν. Αυτά τα χωριά προσφέρουν αυθεντική ελληνική φιλοξενία σε ζεστούς ξενώνες, παραδοσιακά εστιατόρια και μικρά εργαστήρια χειροτεχνίας που παράγουν τοπικά προϊόντα. Ο παραδοσιακός ορεινός οικισμός Καστανερή στο Πάικο αποτελεί ένα ακόμη σημαντικό σημείο της διαδρομής, όπου οι επισκέπτες μπορούν να απολαύσουν την ηρεμία και την αγνότητα του φυσικού τοπίου.
Πέρα από την απόλαυση του κρασιού και της φύσης, ο οινικός δρόμος έχει και μια βαθιά πνευματική διάσταση. Η Μονή Παναγίας Γουμένισσας, καθώς και οι μονές Οσίου Νικοδήμου στον Πεντάλοφο και Αγίου Ραφαήλ στη Γρίβα, αποτελούν σημαντικά πνευματικά κέντρα, βαθιά ριζωμένα στην ιστορία και τον πολιτισμό της περιοχής. Μια ιδιαίτερη εμπειρία περιμένει τους επισκέπτες την 1η Φεβρουαρίου, όταν στη Γουμένισσα γιορτάζεται η εορτή του Αγίου Τρύφωνα, προστάτη της αμπελουργίας, με ξεναγήσεις και παραδοσιακές εκδηλώσεις προς τιμήν του κρασιού.
Ο οινικός δρόμος προσφέρει επίσης πολιτιστικούς θησαυρούς μέσα από μουσεία. Το Αρχαιολογικό Μουσείο Κιλκίς, το Λαογραφικό Μουσείο και το Πολεμικό Μουσείο αποτελούν πραγματικά θησαυροφυλάκια της τοπικής ιστορίας. Στη Γουμένισσα βρίσκεται ακόμη ένα Λαογραφικό Μουσείο, που προσφέρει βαθιά γνώση για τις παραδόσεις και την καθημερινή ζωή της περιοχής.
